Titanium Engine Bolt Kit

A few manky OE engine bolts etc on one of my bikes. Want to replace the OE stuff with a titanium full engine bolt kit. This is not cheap.

Before committing any pros/cons or issues to be aware of?

Galling can be an issue. Make sure the threads are nicely lubed, (phnar), up.

Molybdenum disulphide gease is the stuff to use.

yup. Castrol MS3 grease, which is the moly grease of old, or shell retinax HDX2/Gadus S2 V220AD 2,  or Pankl grease from any Ducati dealer - either way, the black stuff..

The Probolt stainless kit is lovely

Yeah that's the more sensible alternative. Which may happen.

I used to order ti fixings in £100 lots. It was only when I put the 3rd order in for my nf4 that I wondered if I'd got a problem!

Sell the 'manky' beast, then use the funds to kit one of the others out with carbon rims and ti everywhere else.. You then have the weekend El diablo special and plain commuter beasties,, simples 🤔

With fairnesst o Ti fasteners, they do last almost forever as engine fasteners and are so expensive that you will want them out if you move the bike on. Try that with alloy cap heads that have a habit of rounding /siezing /galling. Just bag up the originals with some WD, Refinish them if seriously U/S.

I would severely avoid cap heads of any description though. Hateful things unless you can't get a socket on them. Hex flanged is the way to go.

No one here is racing.

Just have a poo before you ride.

👍

Yes they are. And when your bike is less than 70kg ready to go, every little helps. :beerchug:

(And I have a dump before the first race of the day)
