So, a 250 motored CG?

This isn't a 'would it be possible' bullshit thread. I present to you the angriest CG ever devised.

Previously built by a fellow Bandit 1200 turbo worshipper, it has come home to roost and find it's path in life as the angriest possible incantation of the Brasilian strain of 'CG125'. Present mutations include a 1989 RM250 engine, custom engine cradle, Rieju RS3 rear wheel, late model CG front disc brake -TM- and fuck all absolute else.

Naturally an RS4 125 front end has been sourced to match the rear marchosini'ish' rear wheel and provide the necessary stopping power. It ran today for the first time in 7 years.

The sleeping giant has awakened. Be afraid.

Looks like it would rip your arms out of their sockets.

use to that.🤣 20233058_10155556137893485_4204255283157885572_o.jpg.fde6a30d27e6f938e4e959c1ab7754cf.jpg

But in all seriousness it's quite a bit of kit. Slinging a 40+ hp motor into a bike designed to carry 10 with the wind behind you is... Silly to say the least. with that in mind:

it's getting tamed a tad.

also carb cleaning etc. ran on carb cleaner before, going for the full fuel experience.

Bless the little TM flatslide. I love crosser carbs.

Also, F in the chat for the monkey metal kickstart.

It's been worn like a hat by the compression of the newly rebuilt motor.

Kickstarts seem to be a weak point on some bikes, honda xl, cb, cl, etc. So often the shaft is fucked, where the lever meets the shaft is fucked, blah blah.

Really cool project here, keep the posts and pictures coming!

Oh, and I wonder if you considered the radiator in front of the back wheel? It will keep the rear tire warm, which may be a good idea with all that powah!

That's the exact aim. A KTM ally crosser rad with a meshed cover facing the wheel and a dual fan shroud mounted the engine side of the rad should be enough.

I need to get around to punting the stem out of the rs4 lower and getting it machined down to 24mm so it will take the standard CG bearings. It's actually the right length right out the box for the CG headstock which is a happy coincidence.

Kick starts are proving to be a bastard. The motor is freshly rebuilt so is a bit of a bear to kick over, to make matters worse no one seems to make a decent aftermarket kick start for the old 18 corse spline/20mm RMX style shaft. I'm kind of staring an eye watering 168 quid plus postage in the eye for a stocker from Suzuki. Either that or take a punt on a potentially fucked second hand one, probably from the states for a still eye watering 80+ quid.

What about cutting off the knackered bit and welding on a new boss?

I don't have a 'good' knuckle to do that to. The original has the splines nearly worn off and the chinese monkey metal one still has splines but the ring itself is already ovaled, so it isn't going to last 5 minutes to warrant taking the effort to do that. I may have found an answer though, a TS kickstart [amongst others] is the same bore and spline type and I've found a genuine Suzuki NOS for 50 quid, so I reckon that's worth a punt.

Erm, it weight about fack all, should you not be bump starting it??

They're not that easy to push start surprisingly, although I had a freshly rebuilt air-cooled RM400 for a while which I could do it sometimes

My 257's well easy to bump start, as long as you're not trying to push it up an incline! (AKA the paddock at 3 sisters)

That's the exact reason you can't bump start it. No weight = no grip.

I've been busy with other projects, this is getting pulled out and dusted off as it's next on the block for finishing. Looking forward to seeing the MOT inspectors look of abject horror when he sees it.

There was a 472cc banshee powered CG popped up on my facepuke page yesterday........thats 95+ real world horsepower😲

It would be quite fun arriving at the scene of the accident at least 60 mph faster than expected
